COVID-19 and its many variants are still a concern as we enter the second month of 2022. As cases of airborne viruses have increased recently, maybe it's time to think about how your indoor filter can help.
Find out more below about how the MERV rating on your filter can help you fight viruses.
Since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the National Air Filter Association has been conducting studies across the globe to determine which MERV rating helps fight viruses.
Their study concluded that all MERV ratings are suitable to help fight things like the flu, the common cold, and even COVID-19.
However, some MERV values showed much better overall results at keeping homes safe from illness and disease.
For instance, the MERV 10 study showed a reduction of viruses by 10% (possibly 20%).
For MERV values of 13 or higher, the study showed a reduction of 60% and more.
With winter upon us and cold/flu season here, it might be time to consider purchasing a higher MERV value filter.
