Do HEPA Filters Really Work?

Do HEPA Filters Really Work? | Duraflow IndustriesFor some, being indoors during allergy season is a safe haven. But, what do you do when your allergies are triggered by the dust and dirt in your own home? Or if your air conditioner isn’t filtering out the outdoor allergens? Using a HEPA filter is one of the most common types of filters that can prevent your allergies from flaring up, but do they really work?  This article will find out if HEPA filters are better than regular filters, and whether HEPA filters really work.

What is a HEPA Filter?

A HEPA filter is a high-efficiency particulate air filter.  It is a mechanical air filter, and uses fine mesh to trap all the particles it encounters.  HEPA filters will trap pollens, dander, tobacco smoke, and dust mites.  They come with different types of vacuums, and can be used for other devices in the home.

Does a HEPA Filter Really Work?

HEPA filters have been shown to work effectively, especially for those that suffer from allergies.  Combining HEPA filters with effective ways to get rid of the source of the dust and pollens in your home can work effectively.  On their own, HEPA filters can provide clean air, but if the dust, pollens, and other allergens aren’t stopped at the source, they won’t do you much good.

What Else Can I do?

If you’re trying to keep your home dust and pollen free, using a HEPA filter is a good start.  However, you should still vacuum regularly, change the bedding frequently, and keep your pets outdoors if they have a lot of dander.  Using high-efficiency furnace filters will ensure your home doesn’t contain too many allergens that can set off your allergies.  One other thing you could consider would be to change out your carpets for hardwood flooring.

While HEPA filters can be effective at combating allergens, you should also make sure you’re keeping your home clean.  All the fabrics in your home can become breeding grounds for dust mites, and leaving your home dirty can make your allergies worse.

Though a HEPA filter is a good choice to keep your air clean, you want to make sure you stay up on cleaning other areas of your home.  If you can combine regular cleaning with a HEPA filter, then your home will be safer for you and your family.  Make sure you have the right HEPA filters in your home before installing them.

Cooking causes grease. Grease causes problems. Its as simple as that. Any restaurateur knows the buildup of grease from hours of serving the customers who enter the door. In the often fast-paced food service industry, time does not allow for continually cleaning and dealing with the grease. Fortunately, grease filters offer a quick and efficient solution to this common problem. Take just a minute to consider the benefits of installing grease filters in your restaurant. Fend Off Fires Grease filters not only remove grease but also smoke and debris from kitchen air before it reaches the air ducts. Without this first line of defense, grease buildup in the ventilation system becomes a significant fire hazard. Unfortunately, a grease fire levels your restaurant and livelihood in less than five minutes. And a mere two millimeters of buildup is enough to ignite a fire with the help of an electrical short or even lightning strike. Installing and maintaining grease filters reduces this risk. Prevent
